For the past year, I have switched gears and jumped into the Metaverse. I was offered the opportunity to enter a start up as creative lead at YOM, a Metaverse design company that specializes in virtual experiences and building the new 3D internet.
I was responsible for bringing the brand to live, concepting avatars, virtual worlds, NFT’s and mini games.
This gave me experience in new fields, like interactive 3D design, Game design, experimenting with Artificial Intelligence and working with a team of design developers in Unreal Engine.
It was simply serendipity. Van Houten Chocolate, a 200 year old brand that had lost its way over time, held a beautiful history filled with pioneering, innovation, artistry and even the invention of the famous Dutching process. Untold stories were hidden in the small museum in my hometown, Weesp, near Amsterdam.
On behalf of SGK design, I had the chance to breathe new life into this forgotten brand. I dove into the Museum’s archives and rejuvenated the brand story, developed a complete brand redesign and the packaging portfolio strategy. Created 3D Keyvisuals and was guiding the creative team to roll out all line extentions of the packaging designs plus communication & brand guidelines.
Insignety offers you a high-end jewelry collection and innovative instore experience. The design solution empowers you to create and customize jewelry more intuitively than ever before. A unique opportunity to design one-of-a-kind jewelry in creative collaboration with your jeweler.
I conceptualized and designed the 'Soul Signed Jewels' identity and packaging designs. Together with a typographer we've created a unique stylish typeface specially for Insignety. In this intense and inspiring project I had the chance as Creative Director to work with talented photographers, interior designers, and UX designers for the 'Ring Design Software.'
Introducing the Ceder’s explorers - a band of curious adventurers passionately in search of capturing the finest flavours on earth.
They like to stay anonymous so they can keep exploring obsessively, distilling and bottle the purest of treasures nature has to offer: Earth’s Ambrosia (am-ˈbrō-zh(ē-)ə: the ointment or perfume of the Gods, something extremely pleasing to taste or smell).
With a careful maceration process, they create palate-elevating wonders that will take you on a flavour-filled journey full of character.
A fun pure conceptual project with Hotshop Design, where I could suggest several quirky, concepts and 3D visualisations.
At my time at SGK, we’ve developed a global redesign for the Calvé sauces range. We’ve gave the entire range an uncluttered, fun and contemporary style with great shelf impact.
Simply by just tilting the logo in an angle and creating a unique photography style, Calvé is ready for the future.
Oxo is a conceptual packaging design for foldable sunglasses, a design where form follows function in perfect synchronicity.
This conceptual design was inspired by an ardent belief in the art and impact of brand and design storytelling; that by truly integrating 2D and 3D design, brands can optimise consumer engagement in far more powerful ways. Building on these core principles, the design objectives were to create a packaging design for foldable sunglasses that was original, innovative and desirable. The mission was to achieve maximum stand-out while being considerate of efficient use of materials in aid of meeting sustainability targets.
The emotionally engaging jigsaw aspect of both the structural design and product photography on pack serves as a subtle nudge towards the modernist architectural principles that inspired the design strategy. It also adds a somewhat lighthearted and approachable tone to the brand personality, balanced effectively with the use of modern pastel colours and overall premium design execution.
Oxo’s ‘L’ shaped structure mimics the folding product benefit, helping to communicate the story of both brand and product. The structural packaging form also adds value when displayed in store - both in terms of aesthetics and space saving initiatives.
The smart design of the reversible brand logo further helps communicate the intended maxim as symbols of glass frame, folding aspect, glass frame - incorporating the slight hint of the frame at the sides of the ‘O’.
Oxo conceptual design intentionally casts aside superfluous decorative elements and instead focuses on purity, providing an iconic packaging design solution. Both practical and beautiful, Oxo is artistically considered in all aspects.
Sixty amateur homebrewers ventured to tackle the daunting task of concocting the most delicious lager of them all. Invited by the Brand brewery in Wijlre and PINT, they came together for the first Dutch lager brewing competition. The victor would have their recipe bottled and sold across the country for an entire year, under the prestigious Brand banner.
My friends at Vbat Design charged me with creating the Identity and packaging design for this momentous event. It was an incredible success, and the design was so warmly received that it has served as a foundation for the redesign of the Brand beer bottles to this day.
Jonah’s is a revolutionary new frozen fish bites packaging design that appeals to both parents and children alike. Drawing on the familiar story of Jonah and the Whale, the packaging silhouette is designed to resemble a fish tale, creating a stand-out on shelf. The brightly coloured mouth of the fish leads the eye to the brand name and product variant. The design promotes a friendly, fun and playful personality that is sure to engage shoppers and transform the frozen aisle from the least contemporary to the most exciting.
Jonah's has been awarded a Silver in the 2020 Pentawards global packaging design competition.
The Chocolate Academy is dedicated to a higher understanding of the craft of working with chocolate. By connecting passionate professionals, they aim to push the boundaries of what can be created with chocolate and to ensure that the knowledge and techniques of the craft are shared and preserved.
The design I have created was based on the concept: ‘when science meets beauty’. Reflecting on the very precise techniques that come to play with working with chocolate and result into chocolate pieces of art.
At my time at VBAT, I’ve designed the out-of-home range for Pickwick tea. The concept was build around premium cocktail inspired tea flavors.
The teacups where lifted on a stem and the infused flavors added aspiration and flair. The S ans T of the logo where the base for a unique pattern, that served as a brand element to decorate the tea glasses and tea giftbox.
At my time at SGK, we’ve gotten the opportunity to fully rebrand the Dekamarkt supermarket with a brandnew craft proposition. We’ve developed a custom typography design that winks towards the first Dekamarkt logo from 70 years ago and implemented it in a contemporary way. In collaboration with the retail design studio of Sandenburg the identity came to life.
Together with the team of Brandnew Design, we proudly present the concept and Identity of Yespers – a barn-inspired logo symbolizing the collaboration of farmers to reduce food waste and create new products with greater revenue. The tagline 'New Nature' cheekily implies how these farmers are embracing new methods to reduce waste and create a more sustainable food chain.
The elastic band also symbolizes this collaboration and the team's effort to create more local jobs and fair incomes. This work was awarded a Silver ADCN Award, reflecting the great impact of this initiative.
Together with the team of Brandnew Design, we’ve developed a concept for a bold and colourful Dutch Brand to replace thirteen scattered private labels.
The concept was carefully crafted to embody the Dutch love for simple, cheeky design, while also having a high communication value that could easily be adapted into advertising. The concept was well-received and resulted in winning an Effie Award.
At my time at SGK, I had the chance to develop of a design concept for the Knorr Veggie range. Together with the team we finalized the designs. The launch of the range was a great success and sales went through the roof.
Together with the team of Brandnew Design we’ve developed a brand Identity and packaging design. Based around the upward triangle: The element of Fire.
The Climate Neutral Group wanted to introduce charcoal, briquettes and wood shavings as they should have been long ago: honest and real. Real wood, without added chemicals.
A brand that awakens the real man in you. The man who makes a fire himself. A fire that you are proud of. A fire that sets you apart from the other men. A product that challenges you to discover your rough side. A brand that keeps its promises. A brand that is real. Literally. Made from real wood charcoal, which makes it easy to light and heat your BBQ to that perfect point - ready before you finish your first beer.
Fueled by a shared passion for beer, the Blaes Brothers embarked on an ambitious journey to craft the finest German-style beer. Committed to honoring the ancient Reinheitsgebot, or “German purity law,” they set out to create beers of superior quality, true to the traditional styles of their homeland.
The fruits of their labor were met with great success, prompting the Blaes Brothers to expand their product portfolio to include spirits and cheese.
I was proud to have worked with them to create the brand, identity and packaging design for their products. The launch was a success, and the brothers' dedication to brewing beer that is as flavorful and authentic as the German lagers they love has earned them a loyal following and expansion overseas.
On behalf of GreenRoom Amsterdam, I was tasked with creating an unforgettable global campaign for TomTom showcasing the revolutionary 'music on your wrist' range of watches. With every beat and baseline, you can stay connected to your music no matter where you go. Get ready to be taken on a musical journey like never before!
During my time at Design Bridge I was given the opportunity to design the brand identity and POS materials for the Schwinkels brand.
Ranko is a local cleaning company in the Beemster for over 20 years. They needed to differentiate themselves from competitors, since most cleaning companies look the same, using soap and bubbles in their identity, as did Ranko.
Together with the founder we’ve defined the essence and unique trades of the company.
This resulted in a new, modern, premium and fresh identity.
